STUDIO is a lovely, elegant, gem that can be compared to a large Junior Suite in a very good hotel with the added bonus that you have total autonomy to either ‘live-in’ and enjoy cooking what you just bought from the market and the pleasures of home life – -or you can use it as safe haven to return to after the day of excursions around beautiful Palermo before going to on of the great, inexpensive, restaurants in the immediate area.
STUDIO is set in the heart of the neighborhood of IL CAPO, the old historic district with the famous daily, open air, market of Porta Carini is with its fresh produce, wonderful aromas and amazing fish. It is also ten minutes from the center of town and from the bus that can take you to the small port town of Mondello with its spectacular beach – -by bus its 20 minutes and you practically alight on the white sand before the very clean lapis lazuli sea- – or to any other sights you might wish to see.
The flat is entered on the ground floor and a short flight of four steps takes you into the lovely first floor bijou of a home. There you enter 50 sq meters (circa 160 sq feet) where, from the balcony you see Palazzo dei Normanni. It is full of light, airy, and in a quiet neighborhood interrupted by the sounds of mothers calling their children or occasionally letting their husbands know how upset they are…
STUDIO has a comfortable sitting area with a nifty couch facing the flat screen TV and a low table where one can put their computer and take advantage of the flats’ WIFI. The kitchen has a four burner electrical cooker as well as a nice stove. The sleeping area has a queen size bed and can be closed off by a curtain for additional privacy.
The separate and private bathroom is tiled and mirrored and has a spacious, beautiful shower, and plenty of mirrors and is equipped with a washing machine. It too is full of light and has a nice view from the window.
STUDIO is perfect for a couples who wish to have a romantic hideaway or who like to be in the fray of things during the day yet return to a quiet, cool (there is air conditioning) flat at the end of the day’s visiting the interesting museums, churches or gardens of Palermo. It is the ideal spot to retreat to after a wonderful day at the beach.
It is also ideal for a single person who wishes to have an extended stay (we are open to longer rentals and work the price out accordingly) – -such as writers or artists who are working on a project or persons who are of Sicilian origin and wish to spend some time to rediscover family members and their roots. If you are in this vein, take pleasure in the fact that you are not alone; there is a large resurgence of grandchildren and great grandchildren whose parents emigrated Australia, New Zealand or the Americas who are fascinated by their roots and are ‘returning’ for extended visits and even getting their Italian nationality back.
